Making Memories

We didn't have as much planned with friends this week as usual, so I decided to plan some fun outings for Alaina and me. Today we went to the art museum. It is free in July and August -- free parking, too! They recently opened some new areas that are geared toward kids and families. And they have some activities for kids throughout the regular exhibits, too.

Alaina wasn't excited about the museum at first, but as I predicted, by the end she didn't want to leave. The "kids" area had different sections where you could build a fort, construct animals, make a face out of metal (magnetic) objects, create sculptures with clay, make mobiles, stack plates and cups, and a reading area with art and creativity-related books. It was a lot of fun except for the part when 100 kids showed up from a school without letting the museum know first. ;-)

We also explored a park earlier this week. It had the usual playground equipment, but also a path that went into the woods and past some water.

One afternoon, I took her to a local production of Sleeping Beauty. Fun!
