Alaina's Journey East

We just got back from a trip to visit family and friends on Todd's side of the family in Ohio, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. Alaina has now visited three more states! I had a lot of trepidation going into this trip because so much driving was involved, but it all went pretty well. With a little entertainment, Alaina tolerated it as well as could be expected.

Unfortunately, we neglected to get photos of our visits with Todd's Grandma Byrom (last Thursday was her birthday), Todd's Great-Aunt Frances, Aunt Cathy and Uncle Jim, and Todd's dad's cousin Bruce. We also didn't get photos of our gathering with Todd's friends from high school. But here are some we do have (and I'll probably need to do separate posts with more).

Alaina and I after entering New Jersey:

We visited Todd's cousins and their wives (Jon and Marsha, Scott and Lisa with son Joshua) at West Point. Jon has been teaching there for the past couple of years. What a beautiful campus! The day was sunny and warm, and Marsha made a delicious brunch and served it in their backyard on beautifully set tables. The visit was perfectly orchestrated, complete with Alaina staying asleep long enough for us to enjoy our meal.

Alaina met her second cousin Joshua for the first time. They were adorable together:

After West Point, we headed for Philadelphia, where Alaina met her Great-Grandma Ruth for the first time. They hit it off great, even wearing the same color for this photo:

It was wonderful to see so many people and introduce them to Alaina. For the most part, she was very tolerant of all the new people and places and time in the car. She really seemed to enjoy looking around at all the different faces and settings.

More photos to come in subsequent posts!
